Please Note:
We get calls from all over the country looking for old or obsolete parts. If your local small engine shop cannot get the part and tells you it’s no longer available, we will not have the part either.
What do we need to get you the right part?
For an engine part we need: Manufacturer, model, type and code and often the serial number
For machine parts we need: Manufacturer, model and serial number
For tires and tubes we need: The size information that is imprinted on the side of the tire
Why do we need so much info?
Next knowing just an engine model number does not normally tell us enough information to locate the correct part. As an example, for a Honda GX160, there are currently 644 variations. We have no way of knowing what it different from one variation to the next, and we do not want to guess when it comes to getting you the right part. If the parts were all the same, there wouldn’t be 644 variations!
Finally, just knowing the model number is often not enough. The front of your machine might say it’s an ST824 but what you don’t realize is they have likely used that ST824 for years or decades since it probably refers to Snow Thrower 8 horsepower 24 inch. As you can imagine, over time there have been changes to the model, parts are different, engines are different. In fact sometimes that ST824 snow thrower might have different engine options using different brands of engines.
Where do I find the information you need
For most power equipment such as lawn mowers, tractors, snow blowers, yard and leaf blowers and pumps, there will typically be a tag on the machine that will give you the “real” model number as well as the serial number. For a walk behind machine like a mower or snow blower it is often on the end of the machine closest to the handles. For a a tractor it is often under or behind the seat.
Engines
For engines it is often stamped into the shroud that holds the recoil or rewind starter or it might be on a data plate riveted to the machine.
Here are examples of what you are looking for on an engine:
Briggs & Stratton: Family 021032 Type 0010 Code E1 or 021032-0010-E1
Tecumseh: HM100-159001H
Honda: GX160K1 QCL GCAAK-8669999
Kawasaki: FS481V-AS18
Kohler: CH740-3335
This is an example of an emissions label
It does NOT give the information needed to locate parts
